Mulberry Schools Trust

Shanaz is the Director of Governance and Development for the Mulberry Schools Trust, a multi-academy trust in London, UK. The Trust is committed to raising standards in challenging contexts and includes Mulberry School for Girls, Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, Mulberry University Technical College and Mulberry Academy London Dock. Shanaz leads the governance work of the Trust and works on the development of new school provision Shanaz is part of the Senior Leadership Team at Mulberry School for Girls and oversees the school’s pioneering extra-curricular programmes, promoting the Mulberry ethos of confidence, creativity, leadership and love of learning. These include Global Classrooms London Model United Nations, which promotes active global citizenship, the school’s extensive Out of School Hours Learning activities. The other strands of her work are Women’s Education and Pupil Voice, which aim to support young women in developing their confidence and making their voices heard. Shanaz graduated with a degree in Media and Sociology from Goldsmiths University of London in 2008. She completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Law in 2012 from BBP Law School. Since completing this, Shanaz has worked with a number of NGOs and Law Societies in England. In 2012, Shanaz was awarded the ‘Women of the Future’ Public Service Award for her commitment to education and in 2016 she was listed in the ‘British Bangladeshi Power and Inspiration 100’ publication as part of a celebration of 100 leading British Bangladeshi figures who are helping shape Britain for the better.
