Karen Spence-Thomas has held teaching and leadership roles in London schools and joined the IOE in 2009, working initially as a teacher educator on the Graduate Teacher Programme. She now specialises in designing and facilitating tailored professional development programmes within and across schools in the UK and internationally. She has been a Deputy Director of the IOE School Partnerships Team and has co-led the IOE R&D Network of schools with Professor Louise Stoll. Recent and current projects include: ESRC funded Middle Leaders as Catalysts for Change (with Louise Stoll); Leadership for Learning, a programme for school principals across Spain (funded by Educaixa).
