Nursery Inclusion Project For All

Theresa Moses will share the three year journey to create the Nursery Inclusion Pilot @ Albemarle (NIP@A). The focus was to support Early Years settings in meeting the needs of children under the age of four with social, emotional, physical development in the Roehampton area. Since 2016, there has been an increasing number of children in the Early Years with emerging needs. With the introduction of the SEN Inclusion Fund, Early Years settings have been able to receive £1,000 per term for 3 & 4 years from the LA to help meet the needs of these children. However, schools were not able to commission the support from professionals and therapists. The impact on the outcomes for children was therefore limited. In 2019, NIP@A created a shared platform to celebrate good practice, enhance opportunities for children with SEMH, and to promote and embed: • A child centred approach, where lead professionals work in partnership with Early Years settings, families and children • A range of targeted specialist interventions which will enrich practice and develop practitioners In 2020, the NIP@A was given the green light by the LA and is now in the early stages of being rolled out across the borough.
